Safety is of the utmost importance. This is true almost everywhere, but especially on board ships and offshore installations. This is where life saving appliances (LSAs) need to be serviced regularly to be ready for use in all possible circumstances. After an intensive and successful MSC.402(96) certification process, PALFINGER MARINE has officially proven itself up to the task.
Setting the standards
To guarantee the maximum level of safety, a set of strict regulations issued by the IMO must be observed. IMO Resolution MSC.402(96) defines requirements for maintenance, thorough examination, operational testing, overhaul and repair of LSAs, including lifeboats and lifeboats , launching devices and jettisoning devices (including recovery systems). Additionally, it sets rules regarding the education, experience, and ratings of service engineers. Gunther Fleck, Vice President Sales & Service Region Marine at PALFINGER summarizes: “PALFINGER is now one of the few suppliers that can service all lifeboats and lifeboats by proving MSC 402(96) compliance. This not only saves our customers time for coordination and planning, but also significantly reduces costs, as they no longer have to rely on multiple suppliers. »
Quality put to the test
At its LSA training center in Schiedam, the Netherlands, PALFINGER MARINE has undergone the corresponding certification process. The world’s leading certification company DNV has taken a close look at the assessment and development of the technical skills of PALFINGER service engineers worldwide, in particular the content of their training programme. Another key part of the certification process was field experience tracking testing and field proficiency assessment. The renowned training center in Schiedam shows that PALFINGER lives up to the standards. The facility provides in-house professional licensing training and is a meeting point for sharing know-how among PALFINGER service engineers from all over the world.
Globally Trusted Experts
Obtaining the MSC.402(96) certificate means that PALFINGER is not only accredited to service the LSAs it has manufactured itself, but can also offer service for other makes and types. Mark Jansen, Regional HSEQ Manager at PALFINGER MARINE, is proud of the team’s achievement: “This marks another milestone for PALFINGER MARINE, underscoring our expertise and reliability in lifesaving appliances and their maintenance. This would not have been possible without the immense know-how and field experience of our engineers, of which we are extremely proud.
