Station Garage SsangYong Service Manager Tackles 54-Mile ‘Yomp’ Pulpit

Station Garage service manager Richard McCutcheon has raised more than £5,500 by undertaking a grueling 54-mile trek through the Scottish Highlands.

McCutcheon took on The Cateran Yomp (a military term for a long-distance march), walking 54 miles in 24 hours through the foothills of Scotland’s Cairngorm Mountains to raise money for ABF The Soldiers Charity on June 5.

A member of the Atholl Highlanders, a Scottish ceremonial infantry regiment, McCutcheon was part of a team of three who rose to the challenge.

He said: “We have worked hard to prepare the Cateran Yomp. One of the guys lost two stone in training and over the past few months I have personally put in over 800 miles.

“It’s a tough challenge – the constant elevation changes, the length of the challenge and completing it in the dark, was very, very difficult but totally worth raising £5,500 for ABF The Soldiers Charity.”

Aberdeenshire-based Station Garage supported McCutcheon’s fundraising walk with the help of two additional crew members and a SsangYong Rexton SUV.

ABF The Soldiers’ Charity is the Army’s national charity, established to provide support to soldiers, past and present, and their families for life.

The organization is at the forefront of Army Family support and last year supported 60,000 people in 63 countries around the world.

As one of the largest funders in the industry, ABF provides grants to individuals and families and funds leading organizations that support soldiers, former soldiers and their families. It is ABF’s policy to respond to individuals and families in need within 48 hours.
